About US

Weldon In Action is a coalition of current and former residents of Weldon, North Carolina, seeking to revitalize the historic small town.  Stemming from a brainstorming session with former Mayor Julia Meacham and rising momentum from former residents on Facebook, Weldon In Action started on July 8, 2021, with a group of 12 people, comprised of town officials, current and former residents and key county leaders.  The group has since tripled in size and we have numerous projects underway.  Our projects come from the people. Each year, we ask those who come to Weldon In Action meetings what they see as important to the future of the town. Our activities are built on those discussions.

The original founding group also started Restoration Weldon, an IRS-designated 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization to raise money for large-scale projects in Weldon without having to rely exclusively on public funds.  We exist through private donations and fundraising events and activities. Restoration Weldon has a 7-12-member board, chosen from participants in the Weldon In Action coalition.

Our Mission: Through projects and events, we will encourage community engagement, assist in economic development, and create accessible public gathering places to honor our rich history and inspire the future.

Meeting Times:

Weldon In Action meetings are open to anyone who wants to help make a difference in the future of Weldon.  We do not have membership dues, rather we have three requirements for being a member: be positive, love Weldon, and be willing to make a difference. Meetings are held once a month and are sometimes at Halifax Community College (Building 800, Advanced Manufacturing and Corporate Training Center, 100 College Dr., Weldon, NC).
