Margaret H. Joyner & William B. Joyner

Margaret H. Joyner and William B. Joyner’s lives were deeply rooted in faith, family, and community in Weldon. Their connection to the Weldon Methodist Church spanned generations, dating back to its founding in 1845, and remained a central part of their lives. William converted to Methodism before their marriage and went on to serve the church in leadership roles, while Margaret was actively involved in teaching and church groups.

William, originally from Hertford County, built his life in Weldon through determination—starting in retail before establishing Joyner Furniture Company in 1939. Margaret, a dedicated educator, balanced teaching with supporting her family, especially during World War II.

Together, they were known for their service, generosity, and commitment to others—whether through business, education, or civic involvement. Their legacy is one of strong faith, hard work, and lasting impact on the Weldon community.
