Beautiful Beginnings: Phase One of the RJB Project is Underway

Alumni and supporters met Saturday at the site of the former Ralph J. Bunche school in Weldon on West First Street to celebrate the construction of a commemorative park honoring the history of the school, which served African-American students from 1905 until integration in 1972.

Weldon In Action has received a grant to support the research and recording of the town’s history as part of North Carolina’s America 250 NC Initiative to commemorate the nation’s 250th anniversary.
